Made from clone 95 Chardonnay vines of Stonebridge Estate vineyard, the grapes were hand-harvested into small bins, pressed and wild fermented in 33% new French Oak barrels. The low intervention and slow fermentation took 12 months to complete. Wine completed its malo fermentation at its own pace during these months as well. This small batch was kept in barrels for a total of 22 months before being bottled and aged another 24 months before their release. This complex wine has a big nose of citrus and fresh cut yellow apple, with hints of quince, mango and candy aromas supported by a well-blended bouquet of spices, pineapple, and plenty of vanilla. The wine has a captivating presence with fresh acidity and rich long finish. Vanilla, lemon and fruit flavours takes their turn to show their contribution to the bouquet.
Single Vineyard. Vegan Friendly.

This is the first wine, from a challenging vintage. Took 14 months to complete fermentation. Really exotic, mineral nose with spice, crystalline citrus fruit and some flinty tension. The palate has some toast and spice with mineral intensity, and powerful lime, peach, spice and a touch of apple. Very intense with a long future ahead of it, showing a bit of development but also incisive acidity and focus. 95/100

This beauty is the debut vintage from Lailey Stonebridge, and hopefully a harbinger of what's to come, especially with some bottle age. It is from a single block within in the Stonebridge vineyard planted in 2005 at the southern end of the Four Mile Creek appellation in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It underwent a very long wild yeast fermentation in French oak then aged 22 months in barrel without lees stirring. It aged a further two years in bottle before release in 2022. It all adds up to a very intense, complex chardonnay with terrific aromas of hazelnut, popcorn kernel, peach-apricot fruit and cedary spice. Great intensity, acidity and focus, with outstanding length. It joins the top echelon of Niagara chardonnays.
